Welcome to La Florida River Lodge

Experience the magic and beauty of La Florida River Lodge. Our Lodge and Cabins are at the gateway to the Osa Peninsula, South Pacific coast of Costa Rica, overlooking the Sierpe River. Across the Sierpe is the largest mangrove preserve in Central America. Across the river, on Isla Violin, the ocean beach is just a short boat ride from our dock. Hike trails through our 2,000 acre rainforest preserve, which is home to the big cats, monkeys and many other jungle inhabitants. The Osa hosts the highest biodiversity in Central America. Investigate life on the river. There’s great fishing and lots of critters to see on our evening tour. Enjoy the Pacific Ocean, with sea turtles, rays, whales and playful dolphins. Travel to private beaches where Scarlet macaws nibble the fruits of the almendro trees and the snorkeling is superb.

The Night time Mangrove Tour

Cruise through the mangroves in the evening. Many birds come in to roost. Did you know that raccoons “mapaches” gather food at night in the mangroves?
You’ll see a whole new world.

Dolphin and Whale Watching

An experienced boat captain will take you out to sea, to find pods of dolphins – spinners and bottlenose and others that romp and play, often cruise alongside your boat. Humpback whales and their calves often frequent the waters off the Osa.

Snorkeling and Ocean Beaches

Several local beaches are great for swimming and snorkeling off the nearby reefs. Schools of fish with crazy patterns and bright colors dance in the sunny waters. We’ll bring a good lunch and plenty for all to drink.

Sport Fishing and River Fishing

Hire a boat to take you to the best spots to catch Snapper and Yellow Fin, Marlin or Sailfish. Our boat captains know these waters and how to handle a boat for successful fishing. Fishing gear is available on board… and plenty of beer…
